"What It Takes to Make Money in a Garden Center": How Winning Garden Centers Make Money Using Key Performance Indicators

Join nursery consultant Ian Baldwin and 45 other retail owners and managers on a five step, two-year journey that will improve the strategic and market position of both small and large garden centers. This dynamic program is primarily targeted at retail owners and managers in the sales volume of $500,000 to $5 million per year, who want to double or triple their size. This first semester is a 2-day course that includes lunch and breaks each day, dinner on Tuesday and all learning materials.
First Semester Topics include:
- Fiscal Know How (30% of semester time) – Key numbers that need to be tracked and how to use them
- Profit Management (30%) – Why and how to increase gross margin
- Human Skills (20%) – Identifying your management style, defining your core responsibilities, delegation
- Merchandising (20%) – Strategies that reduce labor and drive productivity
