The Horticultural Research Institute is investigating future research initiatives to guide the organization's priorities for the next 5 years. HRI is seeking participants from all segments of the green industry to complete an online research assessment survey. All participants who complete the survey by May 31, 2013 will be entered to win an iPad mini.

ANLA and HRI need ALL Green Industry members to help set our research goals and priorities for the next 5 years. The compiled results of the online survey will assist HRI in establishing funding priorities for its competitive research grants program and advise the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service to focus federal research dollars on critical industry issues through the Floriculture & Nursery Research Initiative. HRI seeks grant applications for FY2014. The May 15 deadline is approaching! HRI particularly seeks proposals for research focusing on:
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in nursery crop production systems;
  • Regulatory issues and emerging opportunities in the nursery and landscape industry; Environmentally responsible management practices;
  • Research that increases nursery crop producers' business and financial expertise;
  • Research that expands the market for plant material.

The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) is accepting grant applications for horticultural projects designed to improve the efficiency and profitability of the Green Industry. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2013. Horticultural research and promotion is essential to the success of horticultural professionals and businesses. Scientists are encouraged to submit proposals for research that may expand profit opportunities for the Green Industry.

Teresa Jodon
Teresa is the Executive Director of the Horticultural Research Institute and direct activities including research, fundraising, a competitive grants and scholarship program, and activities within the HRI membership, scientific and donor communities. She is the staff liaison for the HRI Executive Committee, Investment Committee and Board of Trustees. Teresa is the CEO of Green Industry Innovations (GII), LLC. A for-profit company established by HRI. GII was created to facilitate with the commercialization of keratin based resins, a product of HRI’s work in creating a biodegradable plant container from poultry feathers (keratin). Teresa received her Master of Science in Management with a specialization in Nonprofit and Association Management from the University of Maryland University College.
