USDA-APHIS Closing Linden PIS Fumigation Chamber
Posted by:
USDA-APHIS announced that they will begin decommissioning the fumigation chamber at the Plant Inspection Station (PIS) in Linden, NJ beginning October 1st of this year. The chamber will not be moved as part of the construction of the new PIS in Linden. This follows an earlier decision by APHIS to phase out the PIS fumigation chambers and allow for private contractors to fill the role. Fumigation chambers will not be provided at the new PIS locations in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Nogales, as well. However, there have been no plans announced to decommission the fumigation chamber at the PIS in Miami, a relatively new facility.
