Impatiens Downy Mildew Webinar in October

On October 4th at 1pm ET, The American Nursery and Landscape Association and OFA —The Association of Horticulture Professionals will be hosting a webinar regarding Impatiens Downy Mildew, a pathogen of Impatiens walleriana, and its intraspecific hybrids, by the fungus-like organism Plasmopara obducensThe presenters will be Dr. Colleen Warfield, plant pathologist with Ball Horticultural Company, and Nancy Rechcigl, Technical Field Manager with Syngenta. They will be sharing what’s been learned about the disease over the last year and the steps that can be taken to be better prepared for the next season.

Both Ball Horticultural and Syngenta have been leaders in studying this pathogen and regularly sharing their findings with retailers, landscapers, and consumers. The October 4th webinar will be your opportunity to hear directly from the experts and ask the questions on your mind.

Joe Bischoff
Dr. Joe Bischoff is ANLA's Director of Government Relations. Focused on legislative and regulatory issues connected to pest and disease management, Joe also works in collaboration with the Horticultural Research Institute (HRI), the research arm of ANLA, to develop and implement strategies for responding to new pest and disease challenges facing the industry. He was recently appointed to the Federal Invasive Species Advisory Committee (ISAC), serves on the Tier 2 Commodity Committee for the National Clean Plant Network – Fruit Trees, and is on the Research Committee of the National Ornamentals Research Site at Dominican University of California. Before joining the ANLA in February 2012, Dr. Bischoff was National Mycologist with the Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the USDA.
